Customs officers prevent the smuggling of undeclared gold and silver jewellery

At the Sarpi Customs Checkpoint, customs officers prevented the import of a large quantity of gold and silver jewellery.

Following a detailed inspection of both a foreign citizen and the vehicle under their control, customs officers discovered gold and silver jewellery. A total of 420 grams of gold jewellery and 27 grams of silver jewellery, subject to mandatory customs declaration, were concealed by the offender in a small handbag and in compartments inside the vehicle. The total customs value of the undeclared goods amounted to GEL 135,545.

The case materials concerning the offender have been forwarded to the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia for further legal action.
