Prosecutor`s Office has charged the detainee with murder in a traffic accident in Gori that resulted in the death of a mother and daughter

The Prosecutor`s Office of Georgia has charged a driver who was arrested under the influence of alcohol with violating traffic safety rules, which resulted in the death of two people.

An investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia established that on July 13, 2026, at night, in Gori, the defendant, who was driving a car under the influence of alcohol, violated traffic safety rules and hit a mother and child who were walking on foot. As a result of the traffic accident, both injured persons died in the clinic.

The detainee was charged under Article 276, Part 9 of the Criminal Code of Georgia (violation of the safety rules for driving under the influence of alcohol, which resulted in the death of two people), which provides for up to 12 years of imprisonment as a form and measure of punishment. The Prosecutor’s Office has already petitioned the court to use imprisonment as a preventive measure for the accused.
