The First Deputy Minister of Justice of Georgia, participated in the 66th round of Geneva International Discussions [GID], addressing human rights violations and humanitarian issues within the framework of the second working group.
As Bela Dzamashvili noted, the discussions covered key issues including the right of internally displaced persons to return, freedom of movement, the right to education, property rights, the right to life, and cases of ill-treatment.
"We discussed issues such as the right of return of IDPs, freedom of movement, the right to education, the right to property, the right to life, and ill-treatment. Special attention was paid to the ongoing nature of rights violations", - said the First Deputy Minister.
The Georgian side also referred to a recent ruling by the European Court of Human Rights concerning the torture and killing of Georgian servicemen Giorgi Antsukhelidze, Ushangi Khubuluri, and Zaza Sopromadze.
"The GID is very important, especially in the context where Russia is no longer a member of the Council of Europe. It gives us an opportunity, through negotiations, to call on it to stop ongoing violations and to implement the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights", - said Beka Dzamashvili.
