An international tender has been announced to study the feasibility of the urban railway corridor. Such a statement made today the Mayor of Tbilisi.
"At the initiative of Tbilisi City Hall, and in cooperation with Georgian Railway, a technical and economic feasibility study for an urban railway corridor is planned.
An international tender has been announced in accordance with the Asian Development Bank`s procurement procedures, with the deadline for expressions of interest set for 13 July. The project concept is based on the Tbilisi Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan, which envisages the use of the existing railway infrastructure to connect the capital with Mtskheta, Rustavi, Tbilisi International Airport, and the eastern regions. The project aims to carry out a comprehensive technical and economic feasibility study, as well as to assess its environmental, social, and financial aspects.
The most qualified bidder will be selected from among the participating companies, and, following the completion of the relevant tender procedures, the feasibility study will commence", - said Kakha Kaladze.
