Customs officers discovered a large amount of undeclared cigarettes with the help of a service dog of the Customs Department

Customs officers of the customs checkpoint “Sadaklo-Vehicle” of the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance, with the help of a canine officer of the Customs Department and a service dog (which is trained to search and detect tobacco products), as a result of a detailed inspection of a vehicle driven by a foreign citizen, prevented 2 cases of attempted illegal import of a large amount of undeclared cigarettes across the country’s border.

The violators had hidden 1,170 packs of cigarettes subject to excise marking in the tires of 2 different passenger cars, as well as in the front panel and fuel tank in the cabin.

In relation to both cases, the case materials have been forwarded to the Investigation Department of the Ministry of Finance for further action.
