The Norwegian government shared a statement from Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, in which he confirms that he received US President Donald Trump`s message about Greenland.

"In our message to Trump we conveyed our opposition to his announced tariff increases against Norway, Finland and select other countries. We pointed to the need to de-escalate and proposed a telephone conversation between Trump, Stubb and myself on the same day. The response from Trump came shortly after the message was sent.

Greenland is part of the Kingdom of Denmark. Norway supports the Kingdom of Denmark`s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Norway supports the talks between the United States and the Kingdom of Denmark, as agreed at the meeting earlier this week. There is broad agreement among NATO allies, including with the United States, on the need to strengthen security in the Arctic, including in Greenland", - says Jonas Gahr Støre.
