The European Commission [RC] grants the Black Sea Submarine Cable [BSSC] project the status of a Project of Mutual Interest [PMI]. Former Georgian Minister of Energy, David Mirtskhulava, responds to this decision on his Facebook page.

“It’s a momentous victory for our nation, and I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all energy professionals involved. Today, the Black Sea Submarine Cable project has been recognized as a Project of Mutual Interest by the European Union!”, - writes David Mirtskhulava.

The BSSC project, designed to connect Georgia’s and Europe’s electricity systems, has been awarded the PMI status by the EC. This designation means the project will be eligible for EU funding and will benefit from streamlined permitting and regulatory procedures, thereby facilitating its timely realization. The project involves laying a 1,155-km cable linking Georgia to Romania.
