The Interim Commission on Women and Children held its inaugural offsite meetings. Commission members convened a meeting in the Akhaltsikhe Public School N7, situated in the Samtskhe-Javakheti region. The school is responsible for providing summer boarding facilities for children with special needs.
The members of the Commission became aware of the infrastructure of the canteen and the caretaking areas and engaged in discussions with the tutors of the boarding school.
"The offsite meetings are designed to assess the challenges and requirements in the areas under the Commission`s competence. Notably, the meetings prioritise the protection of children`s rights, particularly their rights in the digital realm. Additionally, the political empowerment of women and the improvement of the demographic situation are also key objectives. During these meetings, we visit facilities dedicated to children with disabilities and special needs to evaluate their specific needs", - Mariam Lashkhi, Chair of the Commission.
Commission met with the members of the Women and Children Board and the representatives of the local authorities in the Akhaltsikhe City Assembly. MPs introduced the Statute of the Commission and the key directions of its activities.
"With the members of the Women and Children Board in Akhaltsikhe, we comprehensively addressed the needs of women and children. We engaged in deliberations on the established provisions and strategies at the municipal level. We presented the priority objectives of the Commission and reviewed the action plan activities. During the discussion, we explored avenues for synergising our efforts to enhance the rights of women and children", - Nino Tsilosani, Vice-Speaker, noted.
The offsite meetings are held by Mariam Lashkhi, Nino Tsilosani, Eka Sepashvili and Vladimir Bozhadze.
