Prosecutor’s Office has charged one person with facilitating the illegal purchase, storage and sale of a particularly large amount of narcotics

The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia has charged one person with facilitating the illegal purchase, storage and sale of a particularly large amount of narcotics.

An investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs revealed that the detainee, with the aim of facilitating the sale, illegally purchased and stored 11.8407 grams of the narcotic drug “Methadone (base)”. Law enforcement officers seized the said narcotic drug and the items necessary for its packaging during a search of the defendant’s residence.

The detainee was charged under Article 260, Part 3, Subparagraph “a” and Article 260, Part 6, Subparagraph “a” (illegal purchase, storage and promotion of sale of narcotic drugs in a particularly large amount) of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provides for up to 20 years or life imprisonment as a form and measure of punishment.

Based on the prosecutor’s motion, the court sentenced the defendant to imprisonment as a preventive measure.
