David Songulashvili attends the Keda Wine Festival

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, David Songulashvili, alongside Zurab Pataradze, Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, and Denis Salukvadze, Minister of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of Adjara, attended the Keda Wine Festival.

At the initiative of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, the festival was held for the first time in Keda Municipality this year.

"The Keda Wine Festival contributes to the promotion of Georgian wine and the development of local winemaking. Our objective is to support not only the growth of wine production, but also the advancement of quality-oriented winemaking, the preservation of distinctive local grape varieties and traditions, the exploration of new markets, and the enhancement of Georgian wine`s competitiveness. The Keda Wine Festival provides an excellent opportunity to showcase Adjara’s winemaking potential, local producers, and the diversity of Georgian wine to a wider audience. Similar events promote the development of wine tourism and strengthen economic opportunities in the regions", - said David Songulashvili.

The festival aimed to promote Georgian wine, support local winemakers, foster wine tourism, and showcase the region`s economic potential. About 50 representatives from wine cellars and wineries across Georgia participated, offering visitors wines produced using both traditional and modern winemaking methods.

Moreover, the festival program included dedicated wine-tasting and thematic spaces for guests, featuring wines from different regions of Georgia, alongside displays highlighting Georgian winemaking traditions and Adjara’s distinctive cultural heritage. The programme also featured gastronomic masterclasses and the preparation of traditional dishes to accompany wine, including Georgian clay-oven bread, traditional skewered grilled meat, churchkhela, and regional specialties characteristic of Adjara, including performances of Georgian polyphonic singing and traditional dances, as well as recreational activities for children.

Following wine-tasting sessions conducted by sommeliers, the winning winemakers were selected and presented with special gift sets.

Giorgi Tskrialashvili, Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture; Giorgi Iakobashvili, Head of the National Food Agency; and representatives of local authorities also attended the event.
