Ilia Injia: Kyrgyzstan is a historically vital country along the Europe-Asia Middle Corridor route

The Vice Speaker of the Parliament / member of the parliamentary political group “European Socialists”, Ilia Injia, responds to the official visit of the Parliament Speaker to Bishkek. According to him, a meeting with the local Georgian diaspora was held as part of the visit.

“This is important and interesting for the interests of our country, as Kyrgyzstan is one of the key countries of the Middle Corridor, which historically has always participated in the Middle Corridor - the road connecting Europe and Asia.

Today we met with the diaspora. Of course, there are not many representatives of the diaspora in this country; however, we will try to protect our interests and ensure that their interests are also protected in this country”, - said Ilia Injia.

The Parliament Speaker’s official visit to Bishkek continues. Shalva Papuashvili will meet with the country’s president tomorrow. The Speaker has already held a meeting with his Kyrgyz counterpart. An official welcoming ceremony took place at the legislative body, after which the parties proceeded to an expanded-format meeting with the participation of national delegations.

Shalva Papuashvili voiced an initiative to establish a working group that will bring together Georgia and five Central Asian countries to work on maximizing the potential of the Middle Corridor.

A meeting with diaspora representatives was also held today. The conversation touched upon the activities and challenges of Georgians living in Kyrgyzstan, maintaining ties with Georgia, and the importance of preserving the Georgian language, culture, and traditions.
