U.S. President Donald Trump claimed on the 2nd that an agreement had been reached with Iran regarding the Strait of Hormuz, a key issue, and asserted,

"There will also be a nuclear agreement".

The U.S. and Israel had planned large-scale airstrikes targeting Iran’s infrastructure facilities over the weekend, but Trump conditionally proposed a "rapid agreement" on the 1st and abruptly suspended the operation.

Trump stated, "It would have been the largest attack since World War II," and revealed that Iran pleaded with him to halt the military operation. He also announced that the two countries would resume negotiations in the afternoon of the 3rd.

Regarding the background of the attack cancellation, he said, "If an ally requests a suspension, I have no choice but to say, `Let`s wait and see`", and “They requested the suspension of the attack, believing negotiations would succeed... Negotiations on the Strait of Hormuz issue have been successful, and following this, there will be an agreement on the nuclear issue, or a deal that can also be referred to as Iran`s denuclearization, denuclearization".
