Ukraine on brink of humanitarian and energy crisis – Merz

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has warned that Ukraine is "on the brink of a humanitarian energy crisis", writes pravda.com.ua.

According to the letter from Merz to the parliamentary leaders of the CDU/CSU and SPD parties [as reported by European Pravda with reference to German TV channel ZDF], while addressing the coalition parties ahead of a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing in Paris, Merz said that Ukraine is "on the brink of a humanitarian energy crisis".

He believes that Vladimir Putin is not seeking a ceasefire as the war enters its fourth winter. Instead, he has ordered what Merz described as the most serious attacks so far on Ukraine`s civilian infrastructure. On this basis, Merz has accused the Russian leadership of committing war crimes.

The German government says it wants to bring the war to an end. However, Merz argues this will only be possible if Ukraine receives genuine security guarantees from both the United States and Europe.
