Chairman of the Parliament’s Legal Affairs Committee criticised the European Parliament and the European Commission, accusing them of acting as “disseminators of disinformation”, a tendency he says is evident in the EU’s treatment of Georgia.
“If they had portrayed the actual situation in Ukraine and Moldova, they would not have been able to make critical statements about Georgia.
They don’t only fight against speech and expression - they fight against the truth. They fight against facts, including written facts, as is evident in the report’s failure to present the reality in Moldova and Ukraine.
It is impossible to include examples of corruption, suppression of media, and persecution of political opponents in their own report while simultaneously making statements about Georgia, where the situation is entirely the opposite”, - said Archil Gorduladze.
The European Council removed sections on corruption and human rights from its assessment report on Ukraine and Moldova, highlighting the selective approach in its evaluations.
