The Ministry of Defence of Turkey named the identities of those killed when a Turkish military aircraft crashed on Georgian territory.
Among the deceased are pilot Gökhan Korkmaz, aircraft technical service chief Lieutenant Emre Merkan, aircraft technical sergeant Nuri Özkan, senior aircraft technical sergeant İlhan Ongan, air staff chief İlker Aykut, and air force officers: Serdar Uslu, Nihat İlgen, Cüneyt Kandemir, Ümit İnce, Burak Özkan, Emre Kuran, Hamdi Armağan Kaplan, Akın Karakuş, Ramazan Yağız, Emre Altıok, Burak İbiş, Berkay Karaça, Ahmet Yaşar Kuyucu, Cem Dolapçı, and Emre Sayin.
The Turkish military aircraft crashed in Sighnaghi municipality, approximately 5 km from Georgia’s state border.
The plane was undertaking a flight along the Azerbaijan-Türkiye route. An investigation into the incident is launched under Article 275, Part 4 of the Criminal Code, which pertains to violations of air transport safety or operational regulations resulting in loss of life.
According to the Turkish Defence Ministry, 20 military personnel were on the board of crashed aircraft.
