Zurab Abashidze has been elected as the Chairman at the first session of Tbilisi City Municipal Assembly of the 8th convocation. The session has been opened by the Chairman of the Central Election Commission Giorgi Kalandarishvili. He invited Shalva Ogbaidze as the oldest member of the City Assembly to conduct the session.

Shalva Ogbaidze introduced the agenda to the members of the Assembly after the welcoming speech, and nominated Zurab Abashidze for the position of Chairman of Tbilisi City Municipal Assembly. The members of the Assembly supported the candidacy of Zurab Abashidze.

After being appointed as the chairman of Tbilisi City Municipal Assembly, he presented Deputy Chair candidacies. Beqa Davituliani was elected as the First Deputy Chairman of Tbilisi Municipal Assembly, Levan Jafaridze and Tinatin Nibloshvili were elected as Deputy Chairs.
