A Georgian citizen who was illegally detained near the village of Perevi, Sachkhere Municipality, on August 17, 2026, has been released and is now in territory under the control of the central government.

According to the State Security Service of Georgia, the “hotline” mechanism and all other relevant tools available to the central government were activated to secure the individual’s release from illegal detention.

“The central Government, in coordination with its international partners, will continue efforts to secure the release of all Georgian citizens who remain illegally detained in the occupied territories”, - adds the agency.
