Tbilisi City Hall is responding to the discovery of brickwork structures and ceramic vessels during the rehabilitation of Rustaveli Avenue. As the agency says, information regarding the discovered artifacts was immediately provided to the National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation.
“We would like to respond to the fact that brickwork structures and ceramic vessels were discovered during the rehabilitation of Rustaveli Avenue, specifically on the road section between the Liberty Square metro station and the National Museum of Georgia.
During past and ongoing infrastructure projects in the capital, whenever archaeological layers and artifacts are uncovered, Tbilisi City Hall closely cooperates with the National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation and makes subsequent decisions strictly based on its recommendations.
Naturally, information concerning the artifacts discovered in the process of the Rustaveli Avenue rehabilitation was also immediately provided to the National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation. Based on this notification, the Agency’s relevant specialists responded instantly - inspecting the discovered objects on-site and issuing appropriate recommendations.
Works on the specified section will be carried out in strict accordance with the issued recommendations”, - reads the statement.
