In the II quarter of 2026, the unemployment rate in Georgia decreased by 0.5% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year and equaled 13.8%, reads the report of GeoStat.
In the II quarter of 2026, the labour force participation rate decreased by 0.8% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year and became 53.3%, while the employment rate decreased by 0.4% and amounted to 46.0%. The labour force participation rate decreased both in urban settlements (by 0.8%) and in rural settlements (by 0.7%) compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. The employment rate increased by 0.2% in urban settlements, while in rural settlements it decreased by 1.4 percentage points, and equaled 46.7% and 45.0%, respectively.
In the II quarter of 2026, compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the share of employees in total employment remained unchanged and equaled 69.0%.
In the II quarter of 2026, compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the unemployment rate decreased in urban settlements by 1.7%, while in rural settlements it increased by 1.3%.
The unemployment rate is traditionally higher for men than for women. In the II quarter of 2026, compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, this rate decreased by 0.9% for women and by 0.2% for men, and amounted to 11.3% and 15.7%, respectively.
The labour force participation rate is higher for men than for women. In the II quarter of 2026, the indicator for women was 42.2% and for men was 66.3%. The labour force participation rate for women decreased by 1.5%, while for men it increased by 0.1%, compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
In the II quarter of 2026, compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the employment rate for women decreased by 0.9%, while for men it increased by 0.2%.
