The previous US administration often acted completely unfairly and extremely harshly toward a country it referred to as a strategic partner, using various mechanisms of political pressure against Georgia – Kobakhidze

Prime Minister of Georgia accused the Joe Biden US administration of applying unfair political pressure on Georgia despite referring to the country as a strategic partner.

As he argued, understanding historical realities requires examining how states interact with Georgia even when they describe themselves as the country`s friends or strategic partners.

"The United States is a clear example of this. The previous US administration often acted completely unfairly and extremely harshly toward a country it referred to as a strategic partner, using various mechanisms of political pressure against Georgia… This approach was particularly evident on issues related to Georgia`s sovereignty, legislation, transparency, and public values.

When the Georgian government sought to defend its positions on certain issues and make independent decisions, it was met with different forms of political and diplomatic pressure", - said Irakli Kobakhidze.

He made the remarks while discussing broader historical and political issues, emphasizing what he described as the importance of safeguarding Georgia`s sovereignty and independent decision-making
