Event dedicated to the 106th Anniversary was held at National Defense Academy - 76 cadets graduated the Academy this year

Davit Agmashenebeli National Defense Academy of Georgia celebrates its 106th anniversary. Related to the jubilee the solemn ceremony was held dedicated to the graduation of the 11th undergraduate course and the 20th Candidate Course of Junior Officers` Training School. President of Georgia Mikheil Kavelashvili, Defense Minister Irakli Chikovani and Chief of Defense Forces, Lieutenant General Giorgi Matiashvili attended the ceremony.

President addressed the undergraduates and congratulated them on graduation the Academy. He highlighted the importance of Defense Academy for the country and outlined that Academy provides environment to train high level officers.

While delivering speech, Defense Minister Irakli Chikovani underlined that military education is one of the priorities for Defense Ministry. As he stated, several projects are being implemented to this respect, that enhance Defense Forces and defense capabilities more and more.

Chief of Defense Forces, Lieutenant General Giorgi Matiashvili and Rector of Defense Academy, Brigadier General Mamia Balakhadze delivered speeches as well.

Deputy Defense Ministers and Deputy Chiefs of Defense Forces, officers` corps, Metropolitan Andrew of Gori and Athens Bishop Andria, the representatives of local authority, Director of Veterans’ Affairs State Service Koba Kobaladze, wounded warriors and family members of undergraduates attended the event.

Following the speeches, the undergraduates and Academy personnel were awarded.

Within the ceremony, President, Defense Minister, Chief of Defense Forces and Academy Rector opened "Soviet Occupation Museum". General Giorgi Kvinitadze uniform is one of the special subjects among the exhibited materials, which was restored under the cooperation of Defense Ministry, Korneli Kekelidze Georgian National Center of Manuscripts and National Museum.

This year, 76 cadets graduated the Academy, while 42 participants graduated Candidate Course of Junior Officers Training School.
