Amy W. Diaz, a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, assumed the position of Chargé d’Affaires, a.i., at U.S. Embassy Tbilisi, Georgia, in July 2026.

“Ms. Diaz’s previous assignments include Chargé d’Affaires, a.i., and Deputy Chief of Mission at U.S. Embassy Lilongwe; Deputy Director of the Department of State’s Office of Policy and Global Issues for Europe; Consular Section Chief at U.S. Embassy Harare; and head of U.S. Embassy Kabul’s Counternarcotics Team. Other postings include Rule of Law Advisor and Coordinator for the Summit of the Americas at U.S. Embassy Panama City; Internal Political Unit Chief at U.S. Embassy Tbilisi; Vice Consul at the U.S. Embassy Harare; and Vice Consul at the U.S. Consulate General in Monterrey, Mexico.

Ms. Diaz joined the U.S. Department of State in 2002 as a Presidential Management Fellow and entered the Foreign Service in 2005. She is a graduate of St. Johns College in Annapolis, Maryland, and received her Juris Doctor from the University of Arizona.

Ms. Diaz is the recipient of numerous Superior and Meritorious Honor Awards from the U.S. Department of State. She is married with one child”, - reads the statement of the US Embassy in Georgia.
