Officers of Imereti Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have arrested 2 persons at different times on charges of illegal purchase and storage of large amounts of narcotics and illegal planting and cultivation of plants containing narcotics.

As a result of a search of the defendants and other search activities residential homes, law enforcement officers seized especially large amount of narcotics as evidence, including: 32 capsules of “methadone”, “marijuana” and up to 13 kilograms of the plant “cannabis”.

The investigation is underway under Articles 260 and 265 (1) of the Criminal Code of Georgia, envisioning up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
