Fisherman Jakub Wagner has broken another Czech record. He caught a catfish measuring 2,6 meters long, beating his own record from last year by 4 centimeters, writes slobodenpecat.mk.
He boasted about his incredible catch on social media and described how he overcame the monstrosity, posting “Today”. Interestingly, just the day before, Jakub caught a 2,5-meter-long catfish, while the new record was set in the early morning hours.
“Hunting big fish is not just a passion. It’s a matter of morality, dedication and determination. I take the last piece of chocolate and head for the water. I’m just exhausted and functioning on autopilot. I pass by the rocks and see a catfish about a meter long”, he began his story.
Jakub decided to try his luck at Lake Vranovsko: “I approached the rocks and saw a large piece of "wood". It seemed strange to me, because I had not seen it before. Suddenly the "wood" moved and I realized it was a huge catfish”.
The experienced fisherman cast his hook and waited patiently. “For ten minutes nothing happened. Suddenly, the catfish headed straight for the bait! A fierce fight ensued. It fought, took meters of nylon, despite the tight drag. I couldn"t do anything, I was struggling to hold the rod”, he said. After a tough fight, which lasted 50 minutes, Yakub won: “It’s not just its length that’s impressive, but also its brutal height and width. I’ve never been so exhausted. I’m breathing like I’ve run a marathon and I can’t believe my eyes”.
