The President of Georgia is on his official visit to Turkey. The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Lasha Darsalia, who is accompanying Mikheil Saakashvili, underlined the importance of the visit.

"Turkey is a significant strategic partner for Georgia. Our countries are connected by close cooperation in all areas, be it security, economic, social, and so on.

This visit is also significant in that it is the first visit of the President of Georgia to Turkey.

During the visit, the President is scheduled to hold high-level meetings with his Turkish counterpart, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly. Discussions are expected to cover a wide range of important areas of bilateral cooperation", - said Lasha Darsalia.
