The Parliament has reviewed and approved in the first reading amendments to the Law on the Fighting Against Corruption, along with its accompanying legislative package.

According to the presenter of the bill, Tornike Cheishvili, First Deputy Chair of the Legal Issues Committee, the proposed changes address conflict of interest regulations within public institutions.

Under the draft law, public servants (excluding state-political officials and politically appointed persons) may engage in scientific, pedagogical, or creative activities only with the written approval of the respective institution"s head or an authorized person/body designated by law.

Additionally, individuals employed under a labor contract in a public service position or in a public legal entity may undertake remunerated work or receive any other form of benefit only with the written consent of their immediate supervisor.

Furthermore, as per the legislative amendments, a public servant may receive additional benefits only with the written approval of the respective institution"s head or the authorized person/body designated by law.
