“Georgian Amelioration” ltd under the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture is carrying out cleaning works of irrigation canals in Lagodekhi municipality. As a result, irrigation water supply will be significantly improved on up to 30 ha of agricultural land.

Currently, a 2 500-meter section of the canal located on the territory of Kartubani Village is being cleaned of sediment and vegetation cover. The sediment accumulated in the canal was hindering free flow of water through the canal. As a result, during periods of heavy rainfall, the canal would fill up, creating a risk of flooding for the adjacent agricultural land plots.

Upon completion of the works, discharge capacity of the canal will be improved, creating better conditions for the efficient use of agricultural land and the development of the agricultural sector.
