Georgia`s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maka Botchorishvili, met with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres in Geneva within the framework of the 58th session of the UN Human Rights Council.

Georgia`s participation in activities of the UN and its institutions, as well as the organisation`s important role in ensuring peace and development in the world were discussed at the meeting. The meeting focused on the active involvement of the United Nations in the Geneva International Discussions.

Botchorishvili and Guterres highlighted the importance of the UN resolutions for Georgia. They further discussed global and regional security challenges and underlined the importance of maintaining peace and stability in this context.

The meeting also reviewed the positive dynamics of the country`s economic development and its role in the South Caucasus region. The officials further highlighted the situation in the country`s Russian-occupied regions.

The Foreign Minister invited the UN Secretary General to the country and once again pledged the Georgian Government`s readiness to continue supporting the organization`s initiatives and actively engaging in global peace, development, and overcoming global challenges.
