Now, when these people have acknowledged their actions, confessed to the crime, and the President has exercised his exclusive authority, they started shaming them - Gorduladze

Chairman of the Parliament`s Committee on Legal Affairs said that President had shown humanity toward individuals who had acknowledged their actions, repented for their crimes and appealed to the President for a pardon.

His comments came after Mikheil Kavelashvili pardoned 226 individuals on the occasion of the Mariamoba [Dormition of the Virgin Mary].

"On numerous occasions, the state, including law enforcement agencies and, specifically, the Prosecutor`s Office, has stated that if a person acknowledges their crime and repents for their actions, the state will treat them humanely.

The same applies in this case, when the President exercised his exclusive authority. Individuals who acknowledged their actions, repented for their crimes and appealed to the President for a pardon were treated humanely by the President and, accordingly, the pardon power was exercised… And now they [opposition representatives] have started shaming them and are even launching attacks on them. They will do the exact same thing in the future, doing it either with their own hands or through their henchmen, of whom they do not have very many left", - said Archil Gorduladze.
