Today is Mariamoba [the Feast of the Dormition]. The Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Shio III, is celebrating the festive liturgy at the Sioni Patriarchal Cathedral.

Part of the Orthodox world celebrates the Dormition of the Mother of God on August 28. It is one of the 12 greatest feasts. Mariamoba is preceded by a two-week fast.
