Officers of the Tbilisi Police Department arrested two foreign nationals – Latvian couple - on charges of illegally purchasing, possessing and selling a particularly large quantity of narcotic drugs as part of an organised group.

During searches of the suspects’ personal belongings, vehicle and temporary residence in Tbilisi, law enforcers seized a large quantity of "Methadone".

Police also confiscated materials allegedly intended for the packaging of narcotics.

An investigation had been launched under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code of Georgia relating to drug offences.

The alleged crimes are punishable by up to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment.
