The President of Georgia pardoned 226 persons in connection with the Dormition of the Virgin Mary.
The pardon covered 217 inmates serving prison sentences and 6 individuals serving non-custodial sentences, while the criminal records of 3 people were expunged.
"Mikheil Kavelashvili exercised his constitutional authority to grant pardons based on the principles of humanism and the interests of the state", - says the Presidential Administration.
