The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Georgia has published its latest Information Space Monitoring Report, covering the period from 1 April to 30 June 2026.

The monitoring of the information space was conducted by the Information-Analytical Division of the CEC Strategic Communications Department, using both qualitative and quantitative research methods. Information classified as disinformation was assessed based on relevant fact-checking and established methodological criteria.

During the reporting period, the Information-Analytical Division identified 21 instances of disinformation, one instance of manipulation, and one case of reputational harm through quantitative analysis. The monitoring found that, in some cases, disinformation targeting the CEC was disseminated as part of coordinated campaigns. The disinformation primarily concerned the activities of the election administration, the 2024 parliamentary elections, and electronic voting technologies.

Narratives concerning election fraud, the CEC`s alleged political bias, electronic voting, ballot secrecy, and other issues were actively disseminated. It is noteworthy that no substantiating evidence was provided to support the allegations examined in the report.

The dissemination of these narratives may, in turn, have contributed to raising questions and undermining public trust in the election administration, the electoral process, and election results. The monitoring also identified instances where similar or substantively aligned messages were disseminated by certain Georgian and international media outlets.

Analysis of the reporting period showed that statements on various topics were interconnected and served a common information campaign. Their combined dissemination posed a risk of undermining public trust in the CEC`s activities, the electoral process, and election results, while raising additional questions about the credibility of the electoral process. This once again confirms that the spread of disinformation remains one of the key challenges facing the election administration. Accordingly, the Information-Analytical Division of the CEC Strategic Communications Department continuously monitors the information space to ensure that, whenever false or unverified information concerning electoral matters is identified, the public is promptly provided with verified, accurate, and fact-based information.
