Initiated by the National Forestry Agency, a tree planting campaign was held in the vicinity of the Holy Virgin Monastery Complex on Makhata Mountain.
With the support of Gocha Aronishidze, Founder of the Patriarchate of Georgia’s Foundation “Green Georgia”, around 20 olive saplings were planted in the area. The care and maintenance of these saplings will be managed by the clergy and parishioners of the Church of the Iveria Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos.
“The National Forestry Agency shares a long-standing partnership with the Patriarchate of Georgia’s Foundation “Green Georgia”. Today’s campaign serves this very purpose to contribute to raising public environmental awareness. Today, together with representatives of the “Iveria Society”, we planted olive saplings on the grounds of the monastery complex. We will continue to actively carry out similar activities in the future”, - said Natia Iordanishvili, Deputy Head of the National Forestry Agency
