The Federalist Party is to be added to the constitutional lawsuit seeking the ban of several political parties. Such a statement made today Speaker of the Georgian Parliament.

"We are withdrawing the previous constitutional lawsuit we had filed seeking the banning of unconstitutional parties, and are submitting a new, revised lawsuit in which we shall expand the list of parties. Specifically, whereas the original constitutional lawsuit named 3 parties, the United National Movement [UNM], the Coalition for Change, and Lelo, the new petition will include, alongside those 3, the Federalists party.

On March 2, several parties signed a declaration reaffirming their commitment to what they described as shared strategic objectives. They joined forces with those who organised the attempted overthrow of the government on October 4, thereby adopting those same strategic goals.

They called for the delegitimisation of elections, the non-recognition of the authority of constitutional bodies, and so forth. It is on these grounds that we are adding the Federalists to the three parties already named in our constitutional lawsuit", - said Shalva Papuashvili.
