Mayor of Tbilisi responds to the visit of Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev to Georgia, stating that there is no alternative to strengthening peaceful and friendly relations among countries in the region.

“Relations and strategic partnership between Georgia and Azerbaijan are important. I welcome this visit. Considering the difficult processes taking place in the Middle East, there is no alternative to peace. We have friendly relations with Azerbaijan. Such visits by the leaders of our countries contribute to deepening these friendly ties.

Our geopolitical location is important for everyone. Accordingly, using Georgia within this corridor is desirable. As for why some European politicians do not highlight Georgia’s role in this regard, it is a political decision. We have seen blackmail, insults, and threats toward our country in recent years.

This attitude is unacceptable. We know the reason as well - we did not take steps that would have harmed the country’s economic development and the Georgian people, and that is why there is an aggressive attitude toward Georgia”, - said Kakha Kaladze.
