Eighteen years have passed since the August War, yet we all still remember - with deep emotion - those extremely difficult days. It is our duty to honour the memory of the heroes who lost their lives in the August War. The Prime Minister of Georgia said this in Mukhatgverdi, where he laid a wreath of garland at the Heroes` Memorial.
At the Mukhatgverdi Brothers` Cemetery, Irakli Kobakhidze together with President Mikheil Kavelashvili, Speaker of Parliament Shalva Papuashvili, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze, members of the executive and legislative authorities of the country and representatives of the diplomatic corps, paid tribute to the memory of the heroes who lost their lives in the 2008 war on its 18th anniversary.
The Head of Government of Georgia spoke of the exemplary patriotism of the heroes of the August War and once again expressed his condolences to their families.
"Their example should serve as a guiding principle for generations to come. Their patriotism is exemplary and, of course, we have a duty to these heroes to do everything in our power to restore Georgia’s territorial integrity through peaceful means and fulfil their dream", - noted the Prime Minister of Georgia.
