On March 22 at approximately 14:30, two anonymous calls were made to the Ministry of Internal Affairs` Security Police Department. Such a statement was released by the State Security Service of Georgia [SSSG].

"The caller claimed to be near the Holy Trinity Cathedral, armed with a firearm and having planted explosives on Cathedral`s territory.

The person warned that if an evacuation was not carried out within 20 minutes, an explosion would occur.

In order to cover his tracks and complicate identification, initiator of the calls used specialized software to change his voice, utilized a virtual phone number from a foreign country, and masked his IP address.

As a result of comprehensive operational-search and investigative activities, we were able to identify the minor involved in the crime in the same evening. Several mobile phones, laptops, and other significant evidence relevant to the case have been seized. The detained minor has confessed to the crime. The suspect will be charged under Article 331 of Georgia`s Criminal Code, which concerns false reporting of terrorism and carries a penalty of three to six years of imprisonment.

We possess the necessary technical capabilities to detect and identify such criminal activities. Any similar incidents will be met with strict legal consequences", - reads the statement.
