Employees of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Customs Department of the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance foiled the illegal import of especially large amount of narcotics into Georgia.

The police arrested R.A., born in 1987, on charges of drug trafficking at “Sarpi” border crossing point.

During a personal search of the accused person, law enforcement officers seized pills containing the narcotic drug “buprenorphine” as evidence.

The investigation is underway under Articles 260 and 262 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provides for up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
