Representatives of TAV Georgia, the company responsible for managing Batumi International Airport [BIA], presented the airport`s expansion plans to Mariam Kvrivishvili, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister Tamar Ioseliani, as well as officials from the Civil Aviation Agency, the Airports Association, and Sakaieronavigation. The discussion focused in detail on the requirements for expanding BIA, driven by the significant increase in passenger traffic.

Based on the conceptual vision outlined by the company, plans include expanding the existing terminal as well as constructing a new one. The project also encompasses enhancements to other key infrastructure components of BIA.

The parties agreed to continue active work on the airport`s expansion. It was highlighted that 2025 marked an unprecedented year for BIA, with the annual passenger count reaching a record 1,230,200, a 29% increase compared to 2024, highest figure in the airport`s history.

The participants noted that the historic Eagle Hills project, set to be implemented in Adjara, will breathe new life BIA. The development aims to establish a new hub for the growth of Adjara as a 4-season tourist destination. This, in turn, is expected to impact BIA`s operations, boosting flight numbers and passenger traffic.
