Although Georgia-EU relations currently face several challenges, we believe that through constructive and active dialogue, it is possible to bridge differences and restore normalcy. Such a statement the President of Georgia made todaybafter the meeting with his Croatian counterpart, Zoran Milanović.

“It is essential to recognize that EU enlargement should not be used as a means of manipulation, which too often is the case. We strive to be honest about this matter. We consistently inform our society that, based on our national interests, we are always prepared to advance relations at any level, regardless of the attitude of European bureaucrats. I want also like to highlight that Georgia has demonstrated exemplary stability and principles in recent years, defending its sovereignty, national interests, and peace, thanks in part to the high economic growth we have achieved.

Fortunately, there are countries within the EU that do not turn a blind eye to unfair approaches. They recognise Georgia’s progress objectively and choose dialogue and diplomacy over the aggressive rhetoric often propagated by European bureaucrats.

Only by adopting this approach can true European values be preserved. I would like to take this opportunity to thank my colleague, the President, who remains committed to these values.
