Today, the Government of Georgia is approving student intake quotas at state universities. For the first time since the restoration of independence, these quotas will be based on an in-depth labor market analysis conducted by the Ministry of Economy in collaboration with the Ministry of Education. It was announced by the Prime Minister of Georgia at the Executive Government Meeting.

He also noted that, in addition, the quotas will be determined according to the One City - One Faculty principle established by the concept of higher education reform.

"The Minister of Education, Science and Youth - Givi Mikanadze - will present detailed information to the public and hold a briefing on this topic today.

Therefore, I will not go into details. I would like to highlight one of the most important outcomes of this reform, which is reflected in these quotas.

As a result of this reform, Tbilisi State University [TSU] will regain the mission and status of a mother university, the status and mission it lost during the developments of the 1990s and later, between 2004 and 2012, as a result of the deliberate, harmful and anti-national policies of the previous government.

TSU must regain its status as a mother university and one of the main objectives of this reform is precisely this. I want to thank the Minister of Education, Science and Youth for his work. This reform is essential to ensure that young Georgians receive modern, high-quality higher education in Georgia, which we will absolutely ensure and our activities in the coming years will be dedicated to this", - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
