Officers of Tbilisi Police, Kakheti, Imereti and Samtskhe-Javakheti Police Departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have arrested 8 people on drug charges at different times.

They are accused of illegal purchase and storage of large and especially large quantities of narcotic drugs, facilitating the sale of psychotropic substances and marijuana, and illegal cultivation of a plant containing narcotic drugs.

Among the detainees are both Georgian and foreign citizens.

During the personal search, an search activities held in residential and storage premises, as well as from the places indicated by them, law enforcement officers seized various types of narcotics as evidence, including: "methadone", dried "marijuana" and the plant "cannabis".

As a result of the investigative actions, law enforcement officers also seized materials necessary for packaging narcotics.

The investigation is underway under Articles 260, 260-(4) and 265-(1) of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisions up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
