Georgia, as a key hub in the Black and Caspian Sea region, has the potential to become a leader in the strategic management of water resources. We are laying a solid foundation to leave future generations a well-functioning infrastructure that meets modern standards. It was stated by Prime Minister of Georgia while delivering a speech at the International Forum on the Future of Water (IFFW).

The Head of Government of Georgia highlighted the significance of the forum and noted that water is one of Georgia’s most valuable national assets.

“In the 21st century, when the depletion of water resources has become a global challenge, the importance of water is far greater-it is the foundation of life, health, and a dignified standard of living for our citizens. Our goal is to set an example of how a state should manage its natural resources wisely and sovereignly.

To achieve this objective, it is essential to overcome existing challenges and fundamentally renew our infrastructure. Ensuring that every household has access to safe drinking water 24 hours a day requires replacing thousands of kilometers of outdated pipelines, constructing new treatment facilities and introducing modern technologies. This is large-scale work that demands significant effort and responsibility.

That is why we are choosing a pragmatic path of development. Our partnership with the global leading company Aqualia serves this very purpose. This cooperation makes the best international experience in the sector accessible to our country. It also means that Georgia"s water sector is developing according to European standards, which will ultimately be reflected in the well-being of our population”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.

He also highlighted the significance of developing the water sector for the country’s economic progress, noting that a well-functioning system will bring more tourists, strengthen industry and agriculture, create a healthier environment for business and ultimately increase prosperity for citizens.

“Today’s forum is a place where we are shaping this vision of the future together. The professionals, international partners and decision-makers gathered here are united around one idea: proper water resource management is one of the essential conditions for Georgia’s strength and development”, - concluded the Prime Minister of Georgia.

Irakli Kobakhidze expressed gratitude to Aqualia, Georgian Water and Power and international financial institutions for their support. Speeches at the forum were also delivered by Kakha Kaladze, Mayor of Tbilisi and Santiago Lafuente, CEO of Aqualia JSC. The event was attended by members of the executive and legislative authorities of the country.
