Georgia would receive praise from Brussels only if it were willing to surrender its sovereignty and allow the European Union to interfere in its internal affairs. Such a statement the Hungarian Foreign Minister made at the joint briefing with his Georgian counterpart, Maka Botchorishvili.

"Everyone in Brussels would praise Georgia if Georgia were ready to give up its sovereignty, if Georgia allowed Brussels to interfere in its internal matters.

They would be very happy if Georgia were also involved in the war. Brussels would praise Georgia and the Georgian people if they went to war, they would also praise Georgia if it legalized same-sex marriage.

Since Georgia does not want to do the above, you should not expect Brussels to praise you… Sovereign and patriotic, conservative governments that represent national interests cannot trust Brussels. We are those lucky states. Because you have such a Government in Georgia, just like in Hungary, we are governed by our governments, not by Brussels" - said Peter Szijjártó.
