Employee of the Security Police found dead in Rabati Castle - MIA

The Ministry of Internal Affairs [MIA] expresses deep sorrow over the death of T.O., an employee of the Security Police Department, born in 1985, and extends its condolences to the family and relatives of the deceased.

"On February 9, 2026, T.O. was found dead in the security police workroom in Rabati Castle. According to preliminary information, he inflicted a self-injury with a service firearm while on duty. As a result of the injury, the Security Police Department employee died on the scene.

The investigation is underway under Article 115 of the Criminal Code, which refers to incitement to suicide.

The Georgian Prosecutor`s Office is conducting an investigation into the incident", - reads the statement of MIA.
