President of Georgia, accompanied by his spouse Tamar Bagrationi and the official delegation, is on a working visit to Milan, where he will attend the opening ceremony of the 25th Winter Olympic Games.

An official welcoming ceremony for Mikheil Kavelashvili was held at Milan Linate International Airport.

As part of the visit, he will meet with Georgia`s Olympic delegation participating in the Winter Olympic Games and will support Georgian athletes competing in the figure skating team event.

Prior to the opening of the Olympics, the President will attend a dinner hosted by his Italian counterpart, Sergio Mattarella, in honour of the foreign heads of state present at the opening ceremony.

Mikheil Kavelashvili will also attend a reception hosted by the President of the International Olympic Committee Kirsty Coventry.

The main opening ceremony will take place at Milan`s San Siro Olympic Stadium.

A total of 8 athletes from Georgia will compete in two disciplines at the Winter Olympic Games: figure skating and alpine skiing.
