Georgia`s investment attractiveness is evident in the real estate market, the hospitality sector and the IT sector, which is characterized by very rapid growth – Kobakhidze

Prime Minister of Georgia participated in a roundtable discussion on the future of investments within the framework of the World Governments Summit (WGS) in Dubai.

In his remarks, the Head of Government focused on Georgia`s investment potential and the favorable business environment in the country.

Irakli Kobakhidze spoke about major infrastructure projects being implemented by the Government of Georgia and noted that, despite numerous global challenges, the country continues to demonstrate rapid economic growth.

"Over the past five years, Georgia has been the fastest-growing economy in Europe. From 2021 to 2025, our average annual economic growth stood at 9.3 percent. According to the IMF forecasts, Georgia ranks among the world`s top ten countries in terms of economic growth. Several factors underpin this performance. First is political stability. I would say that the country`s political context is quite complex: there is an ongoing war in Ukraine and the overall situation in our region is far from simple. Nevertheless, despite these challenges, we have maintained political stability and uninterrupted peace.

We pursue a very liberal economic policy that supports economic growth. Tax rates are very low and we have a sound tax policy that creates favorable conditions for investment activity in Georgia. Bureaucracy is simple, which also facilitates economic activity. We can also proudly say that our economy is distinguished by effective governance. Corruption levels in the country are low. According to international and global indices, Georgia is among the leaders worldwide and ranks first in the region in terms of low corruption. We perform better than 8-9 EU member states. All of this creates strong conditions for ensuring economic growth in Georgia and this is precisely our vision: to create the right environment for foreign investors to conduct economic activity in Georgia. This approach has proven to be quite effective", - said Irakli Kobakhidze.

He also spoke about Georgia`s leading positions in global rankings, noting that, alongside sound economic policy and security, the country`s strategic location plays an important role.

"We are doing our best to make the greatest possible use of this strategic location. We are investing in infrastructure and connectivity. Large-scale investments are being made in highways, seaports, airports, railways and digital connectivity. On the Black Sea coast, we are planning the construction of the Anaklia Port - a very important project for Georgia. We are investing in highways to ensure modern high-speed motorways across the entire country by 2030. We have completed the modernization of Georgian Railways. Significant investments are also being made in digital connectivity.

We are working to expand economic cooperation on a global scale. Currently, Georgia has Free Trade Agreements (FTA) with over 40 countries, including EU member states, countries of the European Free Trade Association, China, the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Türkiye and the United Arab Emirates. This is a key instrument that supports our development and further promotes Georgia`s economic growth.

Over 8 billion USD in foreign direct investment (FDI) has been attracted over the past five years. For a country of Georgia`s size, this is a significant achievement. I can also share another important fact that demonstrates Georgia`s credibility for economic partners: Georgia has issued Eurobonds in the value of 500 million USD, which were recently listed on the London Stock Exchange. Demand exceeded supply by 5.5 times and surpassed 2.8 billion USD. This once again confirms the strong interest in Georgia and the reliability of our economy", - said the Prime Minister of Georgia.

According to the Head of Government, another example of trust in Georgia`s economic policy is the 6.6 billion USD investment made by Eagle Hills.

"This is a real estate project that has been launched in Georgia and if we look at the results of pre-sales, we see a very high level of confidence in Georgia from all relevant economic actors.

Georgia`s investment attractiveness is evident in the real estate market, the hospitality sector and the information technology (IT) sector, which is characterized by very rapid growth. All of these factors contribute to investor interest.

Investments in Georgia`s energy sector are also profitable. Our plan is to increase energy generation from 4800 megawatts to 12 500 megawatts by 2035 in the medium term. Georgia is rich in hydropower resources and therefore investments in hydropower, as well as solar and wind power plants, will benefit both investors and the country.

Georgia has a very clearly defined vision for political and economic development. Our goal is to further expand economic cooperation. It was a pleasure to address this audience and I would like to invite everyone in this hall to invest in Georgia", - concluded Irakli Kobakhidze.

The panel discussion brought together presidents, prime ministers, line ministers and executives of major international corporations from various countries.
