From 2021 to 2025, our economy grew by an average of 9.3%, despite the slowdown in global trade and increased uncertainty. This was announced by the Prime Minister of Georgia in his speech at the 2026 World Government Summit.
According to the Head of Government, Georgia has maintained macroeconomic discipline, investor confidence, and peace in one of the most challenging regions in the world.
"At a time when many were forced to react, Georgia decided to plan ambitious projects. Transport and logistics form the backbone of the national economy and support trade-oriented development. Georgia has allocated USD 7 billion for a comprehensive upgrade of transport infrastructure and annually spends 7 - 8 percent of gross domestic product (GDP) on capital expenditures.
We have completed the full modernization of our main railway network, doubling its capacity and significantly reducing transit times across the country. Rail connectivity has been further strengthened by the Baku – Tbilisi - Kars project, which provides a direct and reliable rail link between the Caspian Basin and international markets via Georgia", - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
