In Adjara, one-time financial assistance for citizens aged 100 and over has been increased from 1,500 GEL to 5,000 GEL. The Chairman of the Government of Adjara, Sulkhan Tamazashvili, announced this decision at a government session held today.
“It is important for us to take care of the older generation and create decent social conditions”, - he added.
Currently, 29 citizens aged 100 and over live in the region, among them the oldest is a 111-year-old woman.
Today, Tinatin Mikeladze, resident of the village of Alambari, Kobuleti municipality, turned 101. Tamazashvili, together with the Minister of Health of Adjara and Mayor of Kobuleti, congratulated her on the anniversary.
